Prop 131: CONX Mainnet Change CosmWasm Code Upload Permission

Summary

This proposal aims to update the CosmWasm code upload permissions on the CONX Mainnet.

The change restricts CosmWasm smart contract code uploads exclusively to a wallet address managed by the CONX DAO, while maintaining public access to smart contract instantiation under the default permission settings.

This update is intended to strengthen network security and establish a DAO-managed process for CosmWasm code deployments.

Proposed Changes

1. CosmWasm Code Upload Permission

Update the code_upload_access parameter to AnyOfAddresses, allowing only the following DAO-managed wallet address to upload CosmWasm smart contract code:

  • xpla1merp99ndfhrnw4m9h3glu4d38gf8tg3x8u9qd8

All other addresses will be restricted from uploading new CosmWasm smart contract code.

2. Smart Contract Instantiation Permission

Maintain the default smart contract instantiation permission as:

  • instantiate_default_permission: Everybody

This preserves public smart contract instantiation under the default permission settings while restricting new code uploads to the authorized DAO-managed wallet.

CosmWasm Code Upload Requests

Developers and projects wishing to deploy new CosmWasm smart contract code on the CONX Mainnet must submit an upload request to the CONX team.

Current Request Process

Requests will be reviewed before code uploads are performed through the authorized DAO-managed wallet.

Future DAO Portal Integration

A dedicated CosmWasm code upload request feature is planned for the CONX DAO portal:

https://dao.conx.xyz

Once available, developers will be able to submit and manage code upload requests directly through the DAO portal.

Until then, requests should be submitted via email.

Expected Benefits

  • Strengthen network security by restricting unauthorized CosmWasm code uploads.

  • Establish DAO-managed governance over smart contract code deployments.

  • Maintain accessibility for smart contract instantiation.

  • Provide a clear and transparent process for developers requesting code uploads.

  • Improve the efficiency of code deployment management through future DAO portal integration.

Conclusion

We propose updating the CosmWasm parameters on the CONX Mainnet to allow code uploads exclusively from the designated DAO-managed wallet address while preserving the existing default instantiation permission.

A dedicated request process will be provided for developers, initially through email and subsequently through the CONX DAO portal.

This change aims to enhance network security, transparency, and the long-term stability of the CONX ecosystem.
