Prop 338: Pirin v0.8.3

Summary

This on-chain upgrade governance proposal is to adopt the Nolus v0.8.3 update for the Nolus Pirin (pirin-1) mainnet which is currently running on v0.8.2. This upgrade introduces the following changes:

  • Version Updates: The IBC stack now uses the Nolus ibc-go fork with Solana light client support, and Go is bumped to 1.25.
  • State Migration: x/wasm ContractInfo records are migrated off the wasmd v0.61.1 field numbering, restoring the correct IBC2 port ID encoding.
  • Tooling: A new nolusd contract-help command documents the Nolus smart-contract query and execute surface.

On-Chain Upgrade Process

At the designated halt height, the Nolus network's state machine will stop functioning temporarily. Validators and node operators must manually replace the existing state machine binary with the updated version. Coordination among validators is encouraged and can be facilitated through the "chat" channel in the "Validators" section on Discord. The target block for this upgrade is 25551500, estimated to occur on Thursday, 13th of August 2026, at approximately 14:00 UTC. This estimation assumes an average block time of 3 seconds.

Alternatively, validators may leverage Cosmovisor to automate the binary upgrade to v0.8.3. Ensure the latest version is used to successfully implement the upgrade.
