Proposer: CONX DAO
This proposal suggests changing the UnbondingTime parameter of the CONX mainnet staking module from the current 21 days to 14 days.
The goal is to improve asset liquidity for ecosystem participants and encourage greater participation from delegators, thereby revitalizing the XPLA ecosystem.
Currently, XPLA’s undelegation (unbonding) period is set to 21 days.
This configuration was originally intended to support long-term network stability and reduce volatility by locking staked assets during the early stages of the network.
However, considering current market conditions and recent changes in the XPLA roadmap, shortening the unbonding period is necessary for the following reasons:
Improved Capital Efficiency and Liquidity
A 21-day waiting period acts as a significant barrier for delegators and excessively restricts asset liquidity.
Reducing this period to 14 days allows delegators greater flexibility in managing their assets.
Attracting New Participants
A shorter lock-up period lowers the psychological barrier for new users to participate in staking.
This aligns with the 2025 roadmap’s focus on ecosystem expansion and tokenomics restructuring.
Enhanced Competitiveness
In a rapidly evolving Web3 environment, it is essential to provide a user-friendly experience.
Improving convenience—without compromising network security—helps the network remain competitive.
If this proposal is approved, the staking module parameter will be updated as follows:
Security Preservation
The unbonding period also functions as a window during which slashing can be enforced if malicious validator behavior (e.g., double signing) is detected.
A 3-day period remains sufficient to detect and penalize such actions, ensuring that network security and integrity are not compromised.
Network Stability
Even with the reduced duration, a 14-day unbonding period continues to discourage purely speculative behavior while still encouraging long-term participation.
Reducing the unbonding period to 14 days represents a positive evolution for the XPLA network—maintaining security while creating a more participant-friendly ecosystem.
