Prop 296: Increase Minimum Deposit for Proposals

Summary

To ensure the integrity of the Nolus governance process, this proposal seeks to address a concern regarding scam proposals on the mainnet. Recently, malicious actors have again published a scam proposal containing harmful URLs designed to deceive users and direct them to unsafe websites.

Proposed Adjustments

To combat this issue, we propose an increase in the minimum deposit requirement for governance proposals. The changes are as follows:

• The minimum deposit for normal proposals will increase from 10,000 NLS to 20,000 NLS (~130 USDC at the current price).
• The minimum deposit for expedited proposals will increase from 20,000 NLS to 30,000 NLS (~190 USDC at the current price).

Intended Outcome

Raising the deposit threshold will make it 2x costlier for scammers to publish such malicious text proposals.
