Prop 981: [LAST CALL] Signalling Proposal to Whitelist the Deployment of InterChain NFT Contracts

OVERVIEW

This proposal is a revised version of the Cosmos Hub forum post here.

SUMMARY

After engaging with the community and addressing feedback, we have updated our proposal to align closely with the Cosmos Hub's mission and address concerns raised. Key points include:

  • Strong Community Support:

    • Validators and community members such as @Govmos now support the proposal after clarifications.

  • Alignment with the Cosmos Hub's Mission:

    • Security Enhancement:
      • Storing NFTs on the Cosmos Hub leverages its robust security to protect valuable assets.
      • Prevents potential losses like those experienced during the UST depeg on Terra.
    • Governance Enhancement:
      • Enables advanced governance models through platforms like DAODAO.
      • Allows users to participate more actively using their NFTs and $ATOM holdings.

  • Clarification of Intentions:

    • Interchain NFTs as a Public Good:

      • Aiming to provide Interchain NFT capabilities to all chains, including the Hub, in a chain-agnostic manner.
      • Supporting and accelerating the growth of the entire Cosmos ecosystem.

    • Complementing Existing Chains:

      • Launch on the Hub, List on Stargaze, Injective, et al:
        • Our proposal enables creators to mint NFTs on the Cosmos Hub and list them on marketplaces like Stargaze, BackBone Labs, Talis, and others.
        • We intend to enhance the ecosystem by fostering interoperability and collaboration across all chains.
        • Our goal is to complement existing app chains, not compete with them.

  • Security Measures and Risk Mitigation:

    • Implementation of robust security measures, including audited contracts and whitelisting mechanisms.
    • Use of emergency controls to protect the Hub from potential threats.

Overall, we have successfully addressed concerns and received strong support. Deploying the Interchain NFT contracts on the Cosmos Hub will enhance both security and governance, aligning with the Hub's mission and benefiting the entire Cosmos ecosystem.

Proposal Details

We propose to whitelist Ark Protocol’s developer wallet to enable the deployment of Interchain NFT contracts on the Cosmos Hub.

  • Contracts to be Deployed:

    • Interchain Launchpad: Contracts for minting NFTs on the Cosmos Hub from any chain, allowing creators to reach the entire Cosmos NFT community.
    • Interchain Bridge (ICS721): Contracts for bridging CW721 NFTs between the Cosmos Hub and other chains.
    • NFT Contracts: CW721 contracts for creating NFT collections.

  • Whitelisted Developer Wallet:

    • Team Wallet: cosmos19pmppgpqnjkvjp6mx8q2dpuy382g4hhxatt9sk

  • Security Measures:

    • Audited Contracts: Audits conducted by Oak Security and SCV Security.
    • DAO Management:
      • Admin Migrations DAO
      • Operations DAO
    • Additional Measures:
      • Multi-signature mechanisms via DAODAO.
      • Proxy contracts to enhance security during NFT transfers.
      • Whitelisting mechanisms to ensure only legitimate collections/channels interact with the bridge.
      • Emergency controls to pause the bridge and de-whitelist compromised chains/contracts.

Voting Options

  • Yes: You are in favor of allowing Ark Protocol to deploy the Interchain NFTs CosmWasm smart contracts on the Cosmos Hub.

  • No: You are against allowing Ark Protocol to deploy the Interchain NFTs CosmWasm smart contracts on the Cosmos Hub.

  • Abstain: You wish to contribute to the quorum but formally decline to vote either for or against the proposal.

  • No With Veto: A ‘No With Veto’ vote indicates a proposal either (1) is deemed to be spam, i.e., irrelevant to the Cosmos Hub, (2) disproportionately infringes on minority interests, or (3) violates or encourages violation of the rules of engagement as currently set out by Cosmos Hub governance. If the number of ‘No With Veto’ votes is greater than a third of total votes, the proposal is rejected and the deposits are burned.

We kindly request the support of the community and validators in voting Yes on this proposal to enhance the security and governance of the Cosmos Hub through the deployment of Interchain NFT contracts.
