Prop 540: Enable Superfluid Staking on ION/OSMO Pool #1013

By voting YES on this proposal, OSMO stakers voice their support for enabling Superfluid Staking on the ION/OSMO pool #1013 on Osmosis. By voting NO on this proposal, OSMO stakers voice their dissent in enabling Superfluid Staking on the ION/OSMO pool #1013 on Osmosis.

Details

This proposal will enable Superfluid Staking in the ION/OSMO pool #1013. This pool is currently the 42nd largest OSMO pool on Osmosis by Total Value Locked and is intended to replace the original, larger ION/OSMO pool #2 as the main ION pool on Osmosis.

At the current 25% discount rate, this allows ~200 thousand OSMO to be used to secure the network through staking, in addition to the OSMO from the currently enabled pools.

This Superfluid proposal essentially asks whether the governance and the DAO treasury sufficiently trust in the stability and security of the chain to allow exercising influence on the Osmosis governance using ION, the second token native to the Osmosis chain.

Pool Choice

Last December, ION DAO submitted Osmosis Proposal 375 to transfer 5,468 ION in the Osmosis Community Pool to the ION DAO Treasury (ION DAO govContract) to fund further developments. After completion of the transfer, the ION DAO governance approved creating a gauge incentivizing a new ION/OSMO pool #1013 with 70.98 ION over 120 days instead of incentivizing the existing ION/OSMO pool #2 through ION governance #5 and #6.

The difference between the ION/OSMO pool #2 and #1013 is the weight of ION and OSMO. pool #2 is an 80:20 pool, and pool #1013 is 50:50. Superfluid is requested on the more standard 50:50 pool to be aligned with other pools that are Superfluid enabled.

About ION

ION is the second token native to Osmosis, and ION DAO recently launched its first product, IBCX. By passing Proposal 120, Osmosis governance pre-committed to transferring the clawed back 16,572 IONs to ION DAO for the purpose of funding the DAO's development efforts.
