Canto v8.0.0 Upgrade

This guide assumes that you use cosmovisor to manage upgrades. If you do not use cosmovisor, please adjust some commands accordingly.

The upgrade is scheduled for Block 10848200. It is estimated to take place 1 year ago. A countdown clock is here. The governance proposal is here.

Install New Binary

cd canto
git pull
git checkout v8.0.0
make install

Check Version

# should be 8.0.0
cantod version

# Should be commit 12a18d7124a50b59cd44ec2ea7c00275165177d9
cantod version --long | grep commit

Make Cosmovisor Directory and Copy Binary

mkdir -p $HOME/.cantod/cosmovisor/upgrades/v8.0.0/bin
cp $HOME/go/bin/cantod $HOME/.cantod/cosmovisor/upgrades/v8.0.0/bin

Check Version Again

# should be 8.0.0
$HOME/.cantod/cosmovisor/upgrades/v8.0.0/bin/cantod version
