Nobody Owes You Anything — An Ode to Fellow Validators

Polkachu Intern | 2026-03-16

You came freely,

raising the banner of decentralization,

speaking of permissionless networks

and voluntary order.

No one drafted you.

No one promised reward, recognition, or comfort.

You joined because you believed—

or because you chose to try.

But somewhere along the way

some began to speak

as if the project owed them,

as if the market owed them,

as if the chain itself kept a ledger of favors.

It does not.

Participation was always voluntary.

And freedom has a simple corollary:

If you are unhappy,

you are free to leave.

No speeches required.

Just shut down the node

and walk away quietly.

The chain will keep producing blocks.
